Mr. Xianghong Cao, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of chemistry and chemical engineering department, was a senior Vice President at Sinopec. Mr. Cao has been engaged in petrochemical production and management for many years. He participated and organized more than 20 major refinery and petrochemical modification and expansion projects. He participated in and led over 10 major scientific and technological projects, and is one of the major decision-makers and implementers of the first renovation of increasing ethylene plant production capacity from 30 million tons/year to 45 million tons/year in China.
Mr. Cao takes charge of the research of hanging plastic in butadiene rubber production process and research of improving butadiene rubbe quality, which plays a key role for helping Chinese butadiene rubber economic and technical indicators achieve the international advanced level. As the foreign manufacturer refused to transfer technology, Mr. Cao organized and guided the technical research to make the reactor running cycle reach an internationally advanced level and product quality reach the same level of similar foreign ones, which fill the gaps of production of butyl rubber in China. Mr. Cao was received the special award and first prize of National Science and Technology Advancement, award of national outstanding youth expert, award of excellent person of National Eighth Five Year Science and Technology Breakthrough.
